Syria-Turkey earthquake, first image from Italian satellite

The first hyperspectral image arrived in these hours from Prisma, the innovative satellite of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) equipped with a special camera that captures images in various wavelengths, from visible to infrared, which can provide valuable information to help rescuers, including the 47 Italian firefighters who have recently arrived in Adana.

The newly released image clearly shows the entire city of Adana, the fifth largest city in Turkey in terms of population, an RGB processing useful for providing information as well as a version panchromatic, in which the central Sabanci Mosque is visible. “Other acquisitions are expected in the next few days, close to the epicenter area”, ASI communicated in a note. The images are added to those provided in these hours by other Earth observation satellites such as the European constellation Copernicus.
