With a total turnover in the space sector of 1.5 billion, Veneto aims to become the first region in Italy in the sector: said the president of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, on the occasion of the launch of Veneto Stars, a contest aimed at young to find new ideas of applications of space data for agriculture.
“The Veneto aerospace network is represented by 52 companies and 5,000 employees,” said Zaia. “Space is a romantic theme – he added – but we land and say that space is real: in Veneto the space sector has a turnover of 1.5 billion euros, we are the third region in Italy but we aim to become the first”. A step in this direction is Veneto Stars, a contest aimed at young people from all over Europe to develop concrete projects on the basis of data from space and presented today in Rome at the Foreign Press whose best 10 projects will be presented at an event in May and the winner will find concrete development.
