After the presentation event of its new MacBook Pro, Apple is probably done with the keynotes for this year. Also, the press is now interested in the next products that the firm will launch next year.
Normally, in the first half of the year, Apple will launch a new iPhone SE, new iPad Pros, as well as a new iMac. And today we have new information regarding this iMac, with a 27-inch screen, which would be dubbed iMac Pro.
In an article published recently, the MacRumours site relays a publication from @dylandkt, a source of leaks which is regularly relayed by the media, about this future Apple product. And obviously, the iMac Pro of 2022 will offer in a desktop format most of the new features of the new MacBook Pro launched this last quarter of 2021.
The desktop version of the MacBook Pro
Indeed, like the new MacBook Pro, the future iMac Pro would have a ProMotion screen (therefore a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz), as well as mini-LED technology. Under the hood, there would be either the M1 Pro chip or the M1 Max chip, along with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage, for the base model.
The design would be similar to that of the 12-inch iMac and in terms of connectivity there would be an HDMI port, an SD card slot as well as a USB-C port? The price in the USA could exceed 2,000 dollars.
Another interesting information: according to @dylandkt, Apple has tested Face ID facial recognition on this model (but “not confirmed”). However, it should be noted that recently an Apple official explained that Touch ID is more convenient than Face ID on computers since the user’s hands are already resting on the keyboard.

As usual, this information should still be considered with caution since it does not come from an official source. Nevertheless, it would be logical that the next iMac from Apple (especially if it is a “Pro” iMac) take advantage of the main new features of the MacBook Pro.
As a reminder, thanks to the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, users should enjoy a significant performance gain, compared to products using the M1 chip. According to Apple, the CPU of the M1 Pro and M1 Max is up to 70% faster than that of the M1. The M1 Pro’s GPU is twice as fast as that of the M1, while the M1 Max’s GPU is 4x faster.
