Elon Musk and a group of researchers urged to stop experiments with artificial intelligence: it can threaten humanity

SpaceX, Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk and a group of specialists and top managers of the IT industry urged to stop experiments with artificial intelligence. They are afraid that AI can threaten humanity.

Elon Musk and more than 1,100 other professors, engineers and researchers signed an open letter at the SHI Lab demanding immediately stop training of artificial intelligence systems more powerful than GPT-4 for at least half a year. The letter was published on the website of the non-profit organization Future of Life Institute.

Among the signatories of the letter, co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak; Andrew Young, Entrepreneur And Candidate For The 2020 U.S. Presidential Election, Rachel Bronsonpresident of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, doomsday clock setter, co-founder of Pinterest Evan SharpSkype co-founder Jaon Tallinn and many others.

The signatories believe that AI products “may pose a serious threat to society and humanity”. When working with them, you should be very careful, but this does not happen.

“Competitive intelligence artificial intelligence systems can pose serious risks to society and humanity… As noted in the widely endorsed Asilomar Principles II, advanced AI could be a profound change in the history of life on Earth and should be planned and managed with due diligence and resources Unfortunately, this level of planning and management does not exist, even though in recent months the artificial intelligence laboratories have been stuck in an uncontrolled race to develop and deploy increasingly powerful digital conditions that no one – not even their creators – can understand, predict or securely control,” the letter says.

Experts and industry leaders who signed the letter believe that training should be stopped until common safety protocols are available.

According to them, if the creators of Shi products cannot arrange a six-month break on their own, the government should intervene in this.

At the same time, some of those whose signatures are under the letter stated that their names were simply used, but in fact they did not sign anything.

Thus, New York University professor Yan Lekan stated Twitter, which did not sign any open letters against the AI, although his signature is there. Even more questions were raised by the fact that the tweet was subsequently deleted.

In addition, the names of Bill Gates and Sam Altman disappeared from the letter, and attentive users found several fake names with signatures in the document, which raised a question about the reliability of the data in it.

Earlier, GLOBAL HAPPENINGS talked about what GPT-4 can actually be, and why its capabilities are amazing.

The GPT-4 chatbot also said what professions AI can take away from people.
