“I am a social robot and it is the first time that I can interact in a more convivial way”: he knows how to answer anyone who asks him questions thanks to ChatGPT, the little robot Nao, who has been at home for years in laboratories and in experiments conducted in schools and hospitals. Its version connected to one of the best known applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made it capable of conversing with human beings without having to be programmed and makes its debut in Milan, from the chair of the Faculty of Education at the Catholic University.

“I’m happy to be able to demonstrate my new skills,” said the little robot, in the demonstration organized by the Research Unit on Theory of Mind of the Department of Psychology.
The idea of integrating a social robot with ChatGPT, the researchers explained, derives from this technology’s ability to have natural conversations based on interactive exchanges. “We have put together ChatGPT and the social robot – said Angelo Cangelosi, Director Cognitive Robotics Lab at the British University of Manchester – to make the conversation of robots with people more fluid”.
Connected to ChatGPT, the robot Nao explained the characteristics of the seasons to the public, after having ‘thought’ about it for a while. He asked his listeners for a single precaution: “just remember to speak to me in a simple, spontaneous and unhurried way”.
