(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 03 – The pandemic has made Italy discover the concept of smart working, but what is the future of agile working? The results of the research of the Smart Working Observatory of the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano *, presented today during the conference “Smart Working Revolution: a future to be built now” tell us about it. The data show how, compared to the peak of the crisis in 2020, this year the use of agile work has seen a sharp decline, due to vaccinations and the return to normalcy. Thus in the course of 2021 we went from 5.37 million smart workers in the first quarter of the year to 4.07 million in the third quarter, but it is a trend that could change again in the post-pandemic. According to the research, in fact, the forecasts speak of 4.38 million workers who will operate at least in part remotely (+ 8%), of which 2.03 million in large companies, 700 thousand of SMEs, 970 thousand in micro-enterprises and 680 thousand in PA . Smart working will remain or will be introduced in 89% of large companies, where both structured and informal projects will increase, in 62% of PA and 35% of SMEs. That there has been, in any case, a growth in agile work is evident from the fact that there are now structured or informal smart working projects present in 81% of large companies (compared to 65% in 2019), in 53% of SMEs. (in 2019 they were 30%) and in 67% of PAs (compared to 23% pre-Covid). “The pandemic has accelerated the evolution of work models towards more flexible and intelligent forms of organization and has changed the expectations of companies and workers, even if there are differences between organizations that risk slowing down this revolution” said Mariano Corso.
