Intends to reinvigorate the interest of the computer community in the world of operating systems, the innovative project awarded in the presence of the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara in Milan, at the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations, will represent Italy at the European final in Brussels at September of the “Eucys – Young people and the sciences” competition.
Filippo believes that when we use a device, we are unaware of all the processes that take place behind the scenes, which are fundamental for the effective functioning of computers and telephones, as well as the Internet. The operating system is the program that, simply put, is responsible for managing all other programs.
Without it, every high-tech gadget becomes an expensive paperweight, as it is precisely this that allows the programs we use to run. Programming operating systems is complex, and therefore risks being abandoned by new generations of programmers, who seek simpler and, consequently, more inefficient ways to write code. Without our operating systems, however, any other program would become useless.
The student has created a new operating system which highlights how programming operating systems is not all that intricate and that it is, ultimately, necessary to invest more in this crucial technology for the modern world in order not to run the risk of not being able to advance the world of software due to the obsolescence of operating systems.
