The Pope appoints the Nobel Hoffmann to the Academy of Sciences

(ANSA) – VATICAN CITY, JUNE 03 – Pope Francis has appointed member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences Jules A. Hoffmann, professor of Integrative Biology at the Institut d’Études Avancées of the University of Strasbourg, in France. for his research Hoffmann, born on August 2, 1941 in Echternach (Luxembourg), received numerous awards and prizes, including the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2011.

The Pope today also appointed two other members of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences: Professor Masashi Mizokami, director of the Genome Medical Sciences Project at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine in Japan, and Professor Tebello Nyokong, professor of Chemistry and director of the ‘Institute for Nanotechnology Innovation at Rhodes University (South Africa).
