Epic Games offers Harmonix studio (Rock Band) for Fortnite

Harmonix will thus be put to work on Fortnite, the number one battle royale among playgrounds, to create new musical experiences. Now part of the universe Fortnite, these virtual concerts benefit from increasingly elaborate staging – and ever greater media coverage, greatly helped by partnerships with many international artists.

Among others, rapper Travis Scott and singer Ariana Grande both had their own interactive Fortnite experience under the background of their latest hits. Last September, Epic Games also launched the Onde Sonores series, a musical programming series for the coming months – notably with French artist Aya Nakamura.

No big change on the horizon

In an FAQ posted on its official website, Harmonix answers the various questions concerning its role within Epic Games. “Now we’ll be working with Epic to exceed expectations and bring our unique brand of musical gaming experiences to the Metaverse, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.”One can thus read before a series of questions relating to the catalog of existing titles.

The studio thus wants to reassure fans who are worried about the impact of this takeover: the various games of the studio still receiving additional content, namely FUSER and Rock Band, will not see any of their plans for the future turned upside down by the arrival of epic Games. More DLCs are still planned for this year and 2022, while the seasons of Rock Band Rivals will continue their good progress. Finally, the Harmonix titles currently available on Steam will not be withdrawn from the Valve platform in favor of the Epic Games Store.
