(ANSA) – MILAN, 22 DEC – On the thrust of the metaverse, the innovative platform on which Facebook and the other big names want to build the future of communication, interest is growing in three new product categories, closely linked to the internet of tomorrow: virtual reality goggles, augmented reality goggles and wearables, including smartwatches. At the end of October, IDC analysts had estimated an expense of 542.8 million dollars by 2025, for the combined purchase of these devices. Forecasts that are confirmed in the commercial moves of the big names in the hi-tech world.

If Apple’s expert analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, predicts the arrival of the first Cupertino glasses as early as 2022, there are companies, such as Oppo, which have already presented concrete news for the sector. The Oppo Air Glass can connect to the internet and play content on the lenses, using a micro projector and without obscuring the vision of what is happening around. Google, a pioneer in the smart glass segment, has instead put the team behind the development of its glasses back on their feet, which should also benefit from the hype given by the metaverse and its access opportunities. Speaking of smartwatches, Samsung has obtained some patents that show the possibility of declining, in the watch version, the folding screen already in use on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, which mount flexible panels. This would allow not only to extend the touch surface available to users but also to exploit additional sensors, as well as cameras, to create digital content, to be posted on the most popular platforms, including those on the metaverse.
