The agreement provides for the demonstration of technologies and capabilities for transporting military cargo and humanitarian aid around the world on a heavy rocket, writes Space news.
To date, this the largest contract for the transportation of goods on rockets. The agreement does not apply to any of SpaceX’s launch vehicles.
The military will have access to commercial orbital launches and landings of the company’s launch vehicles, as well as see cargo compartment structures, – to create their own rockets.
It is important to understand that the idea of international flights through space is based on network of spaceports around the world for launch and landing, which are not yet available.
The military, however, looking for ways to land in more “harsh conditions” in areas of potential disaster.
