(ANSA) – ROME, FEB 08 – Poland has indefinitely postponed the deadline of March 1 for vaccinating teachers, policemen, soldiers and firefighters against the coronavirus, admitting that it is not possible to meet this deadline.
Last year, the government announced that staff in these categories – in addition to medical staff – would need to be vaccinated by this date in order to continue working.
However, according to the Guardian, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health – Wojciech Andrusiewicz – admitted today that the deadline cannot be met due to the slow pace of the immunization program. The date of March 1, on the other hand, remains in effect for medical personnel.
Poland is currently in the midst of its fifth wave of infections, with 36,000 new cases and nearly 290 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours. 57% of the 38 million population are fully vaccinated. (HANDLE).
