Iran unveils new ballistic missile with a range of 1,450 km

(ANSA) – ISTANBUL, 09 FEB – Tehran has unveiled a new locally produced ballistic missile with a range of 1,450 km called ‘Kheibarshekan’. This was announced by the Tasnim agency, close to the Pasdaran, which provides details of the missile presented today during a visit by the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Army Mohammad Hossein Bagheri to a base of the Revolution Guards air force.

“The strategic weapon is a third generation long-range missile, developed by the guards of the Iranian revolution, fueled with solid fuel and capable of penetrating missile barriers with high maneuverability”, says the Tasnim agency. The Kheibarshekan presents improvements over previous generations by being lighter and being able to count on a preparation time for launch reduced by one sixth compared to missiles of the same type.

In presenting the Kheibarshekan missile, the chief of staff of the Iranian Army said the weapon could be used against the US and Israel.

Bagheri’s statements come as negotiations between Iran, Russia, China, France, Great Britain and Germany have resumed in Vienna to relaunch the 2015 nuclear deal. During talks in the Austrian capital, concerns have sometimes already been expressed about the development of Iranian missiles. (HANDLE).
