Moscow, ‘tomorrow maneuvers and launches of strategic missiles’

(ANSA) – MOSCOW, 18 FEB – Russia has announced that tomorrow it will carry out maneuvers by its “strategic forces” under the supervision of President Vladimir Putin, in particular with the launch of ballistic and cruise missiles. “On February 19, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander of the Russian Armed Forces Vladimir Putin, a planned exercise of the strategic deterrence forces will be organized,” said the Ministry of Defense, quoted by Russian news agencies.

Shortly before, Moscow had announced that it had withdrawn other tanks deployed near the Ukrainian border and bombers in the annexed Crimea. “Another military train carrying personnel and equipment belonging to the tank units of the Western Military District has returned to its permanent base,” the defense ministry said in a statement. At the same time, a spokesman for the Russian fleet, quoted by the Interfax agency, announced the withdrawal of ten Su-24 bombers from Crimea.

The units and military vehicles, the ministry specified in the note, arrived in their “permanent bases in the Nizhny Novgorod region after completing the planned exercises”.
