Ukraine: Modi to Putin, stop violence, return to negotiations

(ANSA) – NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 25 – In a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for an immediate end to violence in Ukraine and invited all parties to return to the path of diplomatic negotiations.
Modi also “made the Russian president aware of India’s concerns for the safety of its citizens in Ukraine and stressed that his country considers their safe return to India a priority”.
The Indian premier reiterated “his long-standing conviction that the differences between Russia and NATO can only be resolved through honest and sincere dialogue”.
The Delhi government has not yet expressed its decision on the UN Security Council resolution on sanctions. (HANDLE).
