(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 02 – First distances between the base of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Moscow Patriarchate led by Kirill. “We mourn the ordeal our brothers and sisters in Ukraine have been undeservedly subjected to,” said a group of 236 priests and deacons of the Russian Orthodox Church, calling the war in Ukraine “fratricidal” and calling for reconciliation and an immediate ceasefire. The letter is relaunched by Vatican News. The Moscow Patriarchate has historically been closely linked to the Kremlin. Among the signatures there would be those of metropolitans, the highest figures in the hierarchy. The letter is open to other signatures. (HANDLE).
