(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 03 – Victory for the National Rifle Association, the powerful American arms lobby. A judge blocked New York Attorney General Letitia James’ attempt to dissolve the organization, however authorizing it to proceed with the lawsuit. She reports it from CNN.
For the judge, the prosecution failed to prove that the organization’s mismanagement of funds created harm to the Americans. The sentence also states that the dissolution of the arms lobby “could have an impact on the free speech rights of its members”.
NRA president Charles Cotton called the judge’s decision a “resounding victory” for the organization and its 5 million members. James took defeat but announced that he will pursue his lawsuit to prove that “fraud, abuse and greed permeate the organization and its leaders.” (HANDLE).
