(ANSA) – LONDON, MARCH 04 – Some British supermarkets have withdrawn Russian vodka from their shelves among the first forms of boycott against Moscow’s attack on Ukraine. The Co-op chain has taken this step in practice by banning its sale, while Morrisons has put an end to the orders and will only run out of existing stocks. One of the most targeted vodka brands is Russian Standard, created in St. Petersburg in 1998.
Other chains are moving in this direction while there are those who, like Co-op, combine the ban with fundraising for refugees. Marks and Spencer for its part announced that it has suspended shipments of its items to Russia through its Turkish franchise, saying it is doing “everything possible to support the Ukrainian people and in response to the growing refugee crisis”.
