(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 06 – “I have rarely sung this song since it was written many years ago, because I didn’t think it would be relevant again. But, in light of a man’s bloody and sadly mistaken decision to invade a Peaceful and non-threatening neighbor, the song is, once again, an appeal to our common sense of humanity “, Sting introduces with these words the execution of ‘Russians’ in a new video on his Instagram profile.
It is one of the best known songs of the British artist and has always been considered an anti-war anthem since it was first released 36 years ago. Sting thus returns to singing it and dedicates it “to the brave Ukrainians who fight against this brutal tyranny and also to the many Russians who are protesting despite the threat of arrests. We, all of us, love our children. Stop the war”, says Sting in the video . (HANDLE).
