Gb: media, queen makes Windsor Castle her permanent home

(ANSA) – LONDON, MARCH 06 – Windsor Castle is destined to become the permanent home of Queen Elizabeth, as the 95-year-old sovereign is not expected to return to live in Buckingham Palace. This is what we read in the Sunday Times, which cites some sources close to the royal family.

For about two years, the sovereign has resided in Windsor, practically since the beginning of the pandemic, but even previously she had stayed to sleep in the palace only on occasion. The residence in Berkshire was even more congenial for her after the court doctors advised her a long period of rest, in which she carried out a very limited agenda of commitments (often virtual), to suspend them altogether for some. days after the positivity to Covid, from which she recovered.

For the Sunday Times, Prince Charles and Camilla will be the next members of the royal family to settle permanently at Buckingham Palace as king and queen consort. Charles, 73, is known to prefer his London residence, Clarence House, but admitted that the palace should remain the “headquarters of the monarchy”, hence the official residence, once he ascended the throne. He also intends to give the public greater access to the palace and other official and private royal residences. Elizabeth resided for most of her reign at her palace and this year she celebrates 70 years on the throne with the Platinum Jubilee. (HANDLE).
