(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 11 – The Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology, home to an experimental nuclear reactor, was hit in a Russian raid. The State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine – reports the Kyiv Independent – announced that the structure has been hit, damaging the exterior and possibly numerous laboratories throughout the building.
The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (Aiea), Rafael Grossi, has announced that the body has “scheduled physical inspections” of Ukrainian nuclear sites. Ukraine has informed the IAEA that it has lost communications with the Chernobyl power plant. Grossi added that the IAEA has not yet been able to confirm reports that the power lines at the Chernobyl power plant would be repaired the day after the loss of external power supplies. (HANDLE).
