(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MARCH 11 – “We will not stop the imports we have in the energy field in Europe, but what we will do is get out of this dependence”. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this at a press conference in Versailles, explaining that on the part of Berlin “it is a conscious, justified and understandable decision” and that there is “unity” on sanctions against Russia among European leaders. “Europe cannot take the same measures” as the US and Canada, Scholz underlines, adding that the EU intends to continue “to push sanctions that have a direct impact on Russia’s economic development opportunities, including financial ones”.
