Ukraine: new humanitarian aid attempt in Mariupol

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 15 – Another attempt to deliver supplies to civilians trapped in the besieged city of Mariupol will be made today. This was stated by the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, Iryna Vereshchuk.

Yesterday Moscow allowed the first civilian convoy to flee Mariupol, but a senior presidential aide said Russia once again blocked a humanitarian aid convoy trying to reach the city with supplies, the Guardian writes online.

Getting safe passage for aid to get to Mariupol and for civilians to be evacuated was Kiev’s main request in several rounds of talks. Vereshchuk confirmed that a convoy with humanitarian supplies will make its way to Mariupol today. “On the way back, he will bring women and children with him,” he added. (HANDLE).
