Covid: new cases in China date back to 4,365, 2,388 internal

(ANSA) – BEIJING, MARCH 18 – China saw its new cases of Covid-19 rise Thursday to 4,365 against the 2,627 on Wednesday: the National Health Commission reported, according to which there are 2,388 locally transmitted infections (from 1,226 ), 73 imported infections (from 91) and 1,904 asymptomatic carriers (from 1,310).

Of the new cases of domestic transmission, 1,834 refer to the province of Jilin, 113 to Fujian, 74 to Guangdong and 61 to both Tianjin and Shandong, while the residual infections are divided into 16 other regions such as Shanghai and Liaoning.

Presiding over a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Politburo, the highest decision-making body of the Communist Party, President Xi Jinping yesterday confirmed the ‘zero tolerance’ policies against Covid-19, however signaling some changes due to the increasingly pressured economy.

Xi, in fact, has pledged to reduce the impact on growth of the draconian measures followed so far, ensuring that China “will seek to obtain the maximum prevention and control effect at the lowest cost, and to minimize the impact of the epidemic on the economic and social development “. (HANDLE).
