Sejm of Poland called Putin a war criminal and adopted a resolution

The Sejm of Poland condemns acts of genocide and systemic human rights violations committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, and President Vladimir Putin has been called a war criminal. On March 23, the Seimas adopted a relevant resolution and called on all states to support the holding of trials in the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.

“The Sejm of the Republic of Poland strongly condemns acts of prolonged violence, war crimes, crimes against humanity, acts of genocide, systemic violations of human rights and other criminal violations of international law committed on the territory of sovereign Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation together with allies, by order of military commanders under the direct subjugation of President Vladimir Putin, the resolution says.

The Sejm of Poland called on all states recognizing the sovereignty, territorial integrity and right to self-determination of Ukraine to support by all means the initiation and conduct of trials in the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.

They also called for the use of their powers in any international organizations in order to hold Putin, members of the Russian Security Council and the commanders of the RF Armed Forces accountable.

“Publicly available evidence of these crimes proves the recognition of Vladimir Putin by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and the international community as a war criminal,” the resolution says.

In addition, the Sejm of Poland appealed to the parliaments of the democratic countries of the world and the European Parliament with a request to recognize Putin, members of the Security Council and commanders of the RF Armed Forces as persons directly responsible for these acts and impose the widest possible sanctions on them.

Biden called Putin a war criminal

But US officials have made it clear that they consider deliberate attacks against civilians to be war crimes.
