Heavy firefight in Somalia near Mogadishu airport, with security forces clashing with armed men who tried to storm the fortified area of the Somali capital.
This was reported by witnesses as well as the jihadist group al-Shabaab, affiliated with al-Qaeda, which claimed responsibility for the attack.
Officials said security forces killed two gunmen, while other attackers are wanted. The area has been secured. The airport complex houses the UN, humanitarian agencies, foreign missions and contractors, as well as the headquarters of the African Union military mission in the country, Amisom. (HANDLE).
