(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, MARCH 25 – “The EU strongly condemns the launch by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea of an intercontinental ballistic missile on March 24”. “This is a violation of the multiple resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and a serious threat to international and regional peace and security”: said a statement by High Representative Josep Borrell. The EU therefore calls on North Korea to refrain from any further action that could increase international or regional tensions. To comply with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council by abandoning all its nuclear weapons, other weapons of mass destruction, ballistic missile programs and existing nuclear programs, in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner, and immediately cease all related activities .
The EU then calls on all UN members to take action to fully implement the UN Security Council sanctions. And it says it is ready to implement and complete, if necessary, any action that might be taken by the United Nations Security Council in response to this event. (HANDLE).
