(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 26 – Over half of the inhabitants fled Chernihiv, which is completely destroyed, and over 200 civilians have been killed since the invasion began. This was stated by the mayor of the city in the north of Ukraine, near the border with Belarus, isolated for days due to the destruction of a road bridge over the Desna river, crucial for connections with Kiev.
“It is easier to count whole houses than destroyed ones,” said mayor Vladyslav Atroshenko, quoted by Ukraine Pravda, at a press conference, adding that evacuations are impossible. In the city, he added, there is no electricity and running water shortages. (HANDLE).
