Ukraine: 15 million euros in aid from Birmingham concert

(ANSA) – LONDON, MARCH 30 – The great concert for war-affected Ukraine held last night at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham raised over 12 million pounds, just under 15 million euros. The Independent reports it. International music stars performed on stage, including Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran and the Snow Patrol, as well as Emeli Sande, Becky Hill and The Manic Street Preachers. Jamala, winner of Eurovision 2016 representing Ukraine, performed her song “1944”, about the forced deportation of the Crimean Tatars by the Soviet Union.

“We all have a responsibility to help the Ukrainian people and we cannot stand still,” Cabello told UK media.

Presenting the Concert For Ukraine, broadcast live by the ITV broadcaster, was the former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, together with Marvin Humes and Ronan Kemp.

The proceeds from the live will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee (Dec) and will be used to provide food, water, shelter and medical assistance to refugees fleeing the war. (HANDLE).
