(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 04 – Kenya continues to fight with fuel shortages at the national level, registering long car queues at the few refueled service stations in its main cities, as the BBC also reports today. The reasons for this shortage are different: President Uhuru Kenyatta, in fact, says that it is due to the global crisis following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while Kenya Pipeline, a national oil storage company, says that there are sufficient stocks and the Regulatory Authority of Energy and Oil, Epra, has issued warnings against corporate hoarding of resources.
However, analysts say that behind the problem is the delay in subsidies promised by the government to retailers to cushion the effects of the price hikes. (HANDLE).
