Now Meghan tries to register the word ‘archetypes’

Megan Markle is now trying to label the historic word “archetypes” after announcing that her first podcast series was called Archetypes for audio streaming giant Spotify.

The Duchess of Sussex made a statement to the US Patent and Trademark Office last month that includes the use of “archetypes”, a word that comes from ancient Greek and was first used in English around the 1540s.

The dizzying list of goods and services involved is in the areas of “cultural treatment of women and stereotypes of women”.

They cover everything from podcasts, TV shows, DVDs, CDs and entertainment services to cable and satellite TV, global computer networks, the Internet, wireless devices, mobile apps, set-top boxes, webcasts and streaming media.

The app was compiled by Archewell Audio, a complex network of 11 companies founded by Harry and Megan, based in the opaque tax haven of Delaware. That means they own the brand and not Spotify, which paid them $18 million in 2020.

I’ll be talking to women who know all too well how these guys shape our narratives. “And I’m going to talk to historians to find out how we got here in the first place.”
