President Rwanda, hypocrisy rules the world

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 07 – Hypocrisy is “one of the three systems that governs the world”: Rwandan President Paul Kagame said today, quoted by the BBC, who condemned the behavior of other countries during the genocide of 1994.

On the international day dedicated by the UN to the genocide against ethnic Tutsi people in Rwanda, speaking from the memorial center in Kigali, Kagame said that the most influential countries have witnessed the genocide without acting and therefore “have no lessons to teach anyone” , accusing them of “covering up their responsibilities” by talking about justice and democracy. “There are three systems that govern the world, one is called democracy, the other is called autocracy, the third in the middle – the most powerful, very quiet, effective – and that’s hypocrisy,” he added. Former rebel leader, the current president added that his forces avoided retaliatory killings in the seizure of power.

A report by UN experts accused the rebels, and then the army, led by Kagame – of Tutsi ethnicity – of having committed atrocities against ethnic Hutu refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo, who fled after the defeat of the genocidal regime. About 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed in Rwanda in April 1994. (ANSA).
