Pakistan: Prime Minister’s appeal to the country, demonstrate for me

(ANSA) – ISLAMABAD, APRIL 08 – In a speech to the nation, the Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, asked the country to demonstrate peacefully tomorrow to support him and against the opposition that he himself accuses of being part of a “foreign conspiracy” to overthrow his government.

“I will never accept an imported government and take to the streets,” Khan said, addressing the nation on the eve of a no-confidence vote against him, scheduled for tomorrow. The premier accused the United States of wanting to overthrow his government with a vote of no confidence in Parliament. “If Imran Khan loses by a vote of no confidence, Pakistan will be forgiven,” he said. The premier claims that the US intervened against him because of his position against drones and for having opposed the armed solution in Afghanistan.

On April 3, the Pakistani vice president rejected the no-confidence motion against Khan, calling it a “foreign and unconstitutional conspiracy”. Subsequently, the president dissolved the national assembly on Khan’s advice and called for new elections.

However, the Supreme Court restored the National Assembly and called for another no-confidence vote scheduled for tomorrow. “I am saddened by the verdict, but I will accept it,” said Imran Khan. (HANDLE).
