Brazil: poll, Lula and Bolsonaro in technical draw

(ANSA) – BRAZIL, APRIL 11 – In Brazil, the distances between the former left-wing president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and the current right-wing leader, Jair Bolsonaro, are shortening in view of the elections on October 2: according to a survey by the Ipespe agency, released today, the two obtained, respectively, 34% and 30% of the voting intentions, thus configuring a technical tie.

The telephone survey, conducted on a thousand people between 6 and 9 April in the state of Sao Paulo (the most important and populous in the country), shows Lula in the same position as the identical consultation carried out in February, while Bolsonaro earned four points percentages. In third place, with 8% of the votes, is Ciro Gomes, candidate of the Democratic Labor Party (PDT, center-left), followed by the governor of Sao Paulo, Joao Doria (6%), candidate of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (Psdb, center-right). Both have grown by one percentage point each after ex-judge Sergio Moro’s withdrawal from the presidential race. With over 33 million voters, the State of São Paulo accounts for 22.4% of the national land registry. (HANDLE).
