In Russia, a group of 23 people got stuck almost at the very top of Elbrus. Five people died, the rest have already been rescued.
This is reported by the Teltgram channel Mash.
The group consisted of 23 people from different cities – St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Perm, Moscow and other places. Three of them immediately abandoned the ascent, 20 – set off.
The group was at an altitude of 5400 meters. At this level, the temperature is minus 20 degrees, the wind is up to 40 meters per second and the visibility is no more than one meter. At some point, everything did not go according to plan, the weather deteriorated rapidly. The guide went down for help, rescuers went to the place.
At first, there were three dead on the mountain, two unconscious climbers and one with a broken leg.
Soon the number of victims increased to five, and the number of victims – to 11. It is known that almost everyone had severe frostbite, and some of them had limb fractures. All victims are in the hospital.
