(ANSA) – MATERA, APRIL 22 – Morning as a tourist in the Sassi of Matera for Prince Albert II of Monaco, who took a tour in the ancient tuff districts. Accompanied by the tour guide Francesco Foschino, the prince then visited the Palombaro Lungo, the ancient cistern under Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the heart of the historic center of the Lucanian city, which in 2019 was the European Capital of Culture.
Later Alberto II – who greeted citizens, tourists and journalists expressed great appreciation for the city of Matera – will be received in the Prefecture for a private visit, which will also be attended by the mayor Domenico Bennardi. Then he will go to visit the Crypt of the original Sin, known as the Sistine Chapel of the rock, where he will be accompanied by an exceptional tour guide, the former mayor Raffaello De Ruggieri, currently president of the Zetema Foundation.
