The Pentagon invited 40 allies to meet in Germany next week to discuss Ukraine’s long-term security needs.

AFP writes about it.

What will be discussed

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said defense secretaries and top generals from 20 NATO and non-NATO nations have already accepted an invitation from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to meet on Tuesday, April 26, at Ramstein Air Base in western Germany.

He called the meeting a “consultation” that will consider how Ukraine’s partners can help strengthen its military power after the end of the war.

“It’s mainly about modernizing and ensuring that their[Ukraine’s]armed forces remain powerful and able to move forward. It’s not about security guarantees, but about their actual martial law,” he said.

Kirby said the countries will discuss how they can continue to help Ukraine with current needs, as well as what weapons various partners can supply as the war progresses. According to him, the meeting will be held not under the auspices of NATO and will not necessarily lead to immediate concrete results.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin most likely believes that the West will lose interest in Ukraine and stop helping it, but this is not so. US President Joe Biden wrote about this on his Twitter page.
