(ANSA) – BOLZANO, APRIL 23 – The skeleton of a climber was found in a tent at the foot of a rock face in Tyrol, near Innsbruck. The discovery was made late Thursday afternoon by two rock climbers who had pushed themselves into a very isolated area of the Martinswand face, near Zirl, to open a new route. The man’s body was in a very advanced state of decomposition. Climbing equipment was found near the tent.
The autopsy carried out yesterday did not bring useful elements for the identification of the dead. Investigators are now focusing on the DNA test. Around 200 people have disappeared from the 1970s to the present in Tyrol. However, the climber could also have arrived from abroad. For this reason, the database of the Schengen area will also be checked. (HANDLE).
