(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 26 – The German government will authorize the sending of tanks to Ukraine: a government source reports.
Tanks of the ‘Cheetah’ type, used for anti-aircraft defense, will be sent to Kiev, the source said. This is an important turning point in the policy – hitherto based on prudence – followed by Berlin in its military support for Ukraine, comment some observers. Also according to this source, the details of the operation, including the number of vehicles that will be delivered, will be announced today by the Minister of Defense, Christine Lambrecht, during a meeting at the American military base in Ramstein (east) at the invitation of the its US counterpart.
