Wives Azov battalion soldiers, save Mariupol

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 27 – A few dozen people, mostly women, demonstrated this morning in the famous Maidan in Kiev to ask for humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians and soldiers injured by Mariupol and to ask for weapons to be sent. These are mainly wives, sisters and mothers of the soldiers of the Azov battalion who resist the Russian offensive in the Azovstal steel plant in the southern city of Ukraine. With their faces painted in blood red or the colors of the national flag, the women sang the national anthem and chanted slogans addressed to the government of Kiev, the UN, the Red Cross: “save Mariupol”, “save our children” , “save our soldiers”, “save Azovstal”, but also against “assassin Putin”.

“There is no more time, weapons and food are running out. We need to open humanitarian corridors and send ammunition,” said Olya, 20, wife of a soldier in the steel plant, to the ANSA correspondent on the spot. (HANDLE).
