Clinical trials of the Betuvax-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine, which will be tested on 170 people, have begun in Russia. The end of research on the recombinant COVID-19 vaccine is scheduled for August 31, 2022.

This was reported by the Interfax agency with reference to the RF state register of clinical trials.

Artificial COVID-19

The new vaccine was developed by Betuvax LLC of the Human Stem Cell Institute. It contains a suspension for intramuscular administration, follows from the information in the register of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

It is reported that this is the first subunit vaccine in Russia, that is, containing an artificially created fragment of the coronavirus, “which is of key importance for the formation of an immune response.” It does not contain live viruses or their vectors.

According to the developers, such vaccines are the safest, since no viral material is used in their production.

From the life of “Sputnik V”

Betuvax-CoV-2 will be Russia’s second coronavirus vaccine. The first is the Sputnik V vaccine (Sputnik V), also known as Gam-COVID-Vac, developed by the Russian National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after V.I. N.F.Gamalei. It is a viral vector vaccine based on the human adenovirus.

  • To date, more than 70 million Russians have been vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine. Also “Sputnik V” received 1 803 893 residents of Hungary and 37 659 – Slovakia.
  • At the same time, the vaccine is not recognized in many countries of the world. For example, members of the Russian delegation who arrived in Strasbourg for the autumn session of the PACE were banned from free movement around the city. All due to the fact that they are vaccinated with the drug “Sputnik V”, which is not recognized by the EU.
  • Earlier, international scientists questioned the results of tests of the Russian vaccine. According to experts, they cannot receive a full report on the testing of the drug, as Russia refuses to transfer data until the tests are completed.
