Ukrainian first lady, ‘the Russians are trying to annihilate us’

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 30 – “The Russians are trying to annihilate the Ukrainians”. In an interview with the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita – taken up by CNN -, Olena Zelenska, the first lady of Ukraine, has no doubts that Moscow intends to destroy her country.

President Zelensky’s wife then revealed the profound upheavals that the conflict has caused to her family and fellow citizens, and that it has “completely changed everything, including our lives”.

“In war there are no days off work and there is no more free time – he complained – Often we don’t even know the day of the week. There is only today and what needs to be done”.

An intense work that sees her committed together with other first ladies, from governments of individual countries, but also with activists and volunteers to organize the evacuation of sick and orphaned children to safe places. When asked whether or not the war changed her husband Zelenska she is convinced that this has not happened: “It has always been like this, he is a man you can count on, who will never fail.”

Vladimir Putin’s war plans “constantly change or do not work logically”, he later specified, judging the Kremlin’s intentions not so much by statements as “by facts”. Their “real purpose”, he then reiterated, is to “annihilate us”. Proof of this are the “war crimes committed by the Russians in the Kiev region, where we continue to discover the mass graves of non-combatants, murdered and executed women and children”.

“Yes, I am convinced that the Russians want to destroy us and commit genocide – she concluded -. And it doesn’t matter what they say because their words do not correspond to their actions”. (HANDLE).
