Contempt for the West and a sense of resentment and a desire to move on is what Russian President Vladimir Putin feels. Psychologist Nigora Khazratova told about this to TV presenters Vasily Golovanov and Ekaterina Fedotenko on the air of the FREEDOM project on the Ukraine 24 channel.

Board member of the Association of Political Psychologists Nigora Khazratova analyzed Putin’s behavior. The most revealing for the analysis, according to the psychologist, are the video of the farewell of the Russian president to Zhirinovsky, the meeting with António Guterres, and Putin’s conversation with Shoigu. These meetings can be analyzed in two ways: the first is Putin’s emotional state, and the second is his ideas, views and vision of the situation.

“An interesting video with António Guterres, here you can see Putin’s emotional state. If he starts at first with being quite closed, his hands are in the castle in front of him, this indicates distrust of the interlocutor, this is a representative of the so-called collective West. Then he gradually enters the context of the situation and begins to open up more,” she said.

Putin begins to reproach the West for what was Kosovo, you have double standards, why can’t we do the same and the like. Here, according to the psychologist, expansion in the behavior of the president begins. He already opens his hands and gradually begins to move towards the interlocutor.

“Putin seems to be addressing Guterres and looking a little to the side. That is, he looks at him, then to the side, as if into a camera, but at the same time not at the camera itself, but a little lower. This indicates a lack of respect for the interlocutor. That is, you are the West , you have double principles, I talk to you, but I don’t respect you, I don’t take you seriously,” the expert said.

Khazratova believes that such behavior indicates, most likely, the experience of some kind of resentment, disappointment. This can be traced not only in communication with Guterres, but also earlier. For example, during a meeting with Macron, even before the war, when they were talking at this long table.

“That is, he is disappointed, he is offended, and this feeling is quite old. These are insults, starting from that last security conference in Munich, when he said that Russia does not agree to play the role that was prepared for it in Europe, and Russia deserves more, better. In this case, he simply identified with the role of such a Russian tsar, but at the same time, insult and frustration are what Russians experience in general, these are not only his personal feelings, these are feelings that he experiences in some at least the Russian people,” she explained.

The psychologist believes that while Putin is ready to continue the war. He does not see that the West can somehow break the situation, radically change it.

“He is counting on the fact that, maybe, somehow he will be able to pretend that everything has stabilized in the economy in Russia, that everything seems to be fine and we are continuing the war. That is, he hopes that he can still win. remains with his views of the former, he repeats the same,” summed up Khazratova.
