(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 01 – Due to Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure has issued an order to close the ports of Berdiansk, Mariupol, Kherson and Skadovsk “until control is restored” on these cities. This was reported by Ukrinform, citing a statement published on the website of the Ukrainian Council of Ministers. “In connection with the full-scale war waged by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022 against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in violation of international law, launching missile attacks across Ukraine and committing crimes against our community, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine adopted Ordinance No. 256 of April 28, 2022, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine on April 29, 2022 as No. 470/37806 “On the closure of seaports”, the note reads.
According to the ordinance, from the date of its official publication, the seaports of Berdiansk, Mariupol, Skadovsk and Kherson will remain closed until the “restoration of control” over the same ports. “This decision was made due to the impossibility of serving ships and passengers, as well as ensuring an adequate level of navigation safety and environmental protection during Russian military operations in these regions that threaten human life and health. seaport operations will resume after Ukraine’s victory over the Russian occupiers “, concludes the statement.
