JD Vance Wins Ohio Senate Republican Primary

Ohio Republican Senate candidate Jay D. Vance, author of the bestselling book Hillbilly Elegy, won Tuesday night after being endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

The Associated Press reported on Vance’s run at 9:35 pm after he comfortably outpaced rivals including former state treasurer Josh Mandel and state senator Matt Dolan.

Vance Mandel, who was in second place, was about six points behind. It worked particularly well in rural Ohio.

The Ohio Senate Republican primary is the first to offer a GOP look at the former president’s 2022 midterm elections.

Trump endorsed Vance last month, though Vance has made anti-Trump remarks in the past, arguing that he was in the best position to have retired Senator Rob Portman take his place in Republican hands.

“I absolutely must thank the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, ladies and gentlemen,” Vance said onstage in Cincinnati, Ohio, Tuesday night.

“Thanks to the president for everything, by my side,” he continued. “I have to say that there are a lot of fake media outlets, and there are some good ones behind them, there are also some bad ones, let’s be honest, but they wanted to write the story that this campaign was going to be Donald Trump’s America. ” first death on the agenda.’

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is not the death of America’s first agenda,” added Vance.

CNN reported that Trump called Vance to congratulate him after the race was announced Tuesday night.

Trump promised never to support the dollar to change the names of supporters.

“Anyone who changes the name of the once famous Cleveland Indians to Cleveland Guardian should not run for the United States Senate, which represents the great people of Ohio,” Trump said in September, as Dolan entered the Senate race.

Mandel’s campaign has been endorsed by other prominent Republicans, including Texas Senator Ted Cruz and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Democrat Tim Ryan easily won the Democratic primaries in the Ohio Senate, receiving nearly 70% of the vote after polls closed at 7:30 pm.

Ryan’s race is scheduled for 8pm.

Ryan challenged Democrat Morgan Harper and Tracy Johnson.

He hopes to replace retired Republican Senator Rob Portman, a moderate candidate.

Although Democratic Senator Sherod Brown has another Ohio Senate seat, the state has favored Trump in the last two elections.

Speaking in a victory speech Tuesday night, Ryan said he intended to pass the law for all Ohioans.

“I’m not here to fight. I’m not going to win Election Day and I’m going to try to punish 50% of the people who live in this state or this country,” the Ohio Democrat told supporters in Columbus.

“I want to bring Republicans to our events. “I want them to bring independents to our events,” he also told the meeting.

At around 8:15 pm, the Republican governor’s primary was scheduled for incumbent Governor Mike Devine, who faced opposition from his right-wing politicians.

With 15 percent of respondents slated to compete, Devine received 56.9 percent of the vote, followed by Jim Renach with 25.6 percent and Joe Bliston with 15.4 percent.

Two prominent Democratic mayors – Nan Wiley, former mayor of Dayton, and John Cranley, former mayor of Cincinnati – are fighting for a chance to go to the polls in the fall against Devine.

Willie’s race was scheduled at 8:49 pm, beating one of Cranley’s two.

During the House primaries, Max Miller, supported by Trump, won several primaries. The race was scheduled for 9:18 pm.

Trump endorsed Miller last summer when it looked like he would run against Representative Anthony Gonzalez, who supported the second impeachment trial against the former president.

After that, González announced his resignation and Miller moved to another constituency, due to the redistricting process.

Incumbent Democrat Schontel Brown, initially in the lead, was ahead of Nina Turner, a prominent figure in Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign.

Brown is also a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, though that doesn’t mean he has received the support of all members of the so-called “squad”, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes endorsed Turner on Monday night.

Indiana voters also went to the polls on Tuesday, but the main race was undeniable.

Nina Turner, an activist in Senator Bernie Sanders' 2016 and 2020 presidential campaign, was defeated by incumbent Democratic Representative Shontel Brown during the Ohio primaries on Tuesday night.
