(ANSA) – PARIS, MAY 04 – The alliance tests continue on the French left. Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s France Insoumise and the Socialist Party (PS) are “on track” to conclude an agreement ahead of the legislative elections in June, PS sources cited by France Presse say, after a compromise reached this morning on the thorny question of electoral districts. With 22% of votes obtained by Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the first round of the presidential elections on 10 April, France Insoumise is trying to bring together all its former left-wing competitors in view of the renewal of the National Assembly, on 12 and 19 June . After a week of negotiations, Insoumise and the socialists therefore reached an “agreement in principle” on the dossier of the electoral districts in the night between yesterday and today. The socialists, the sources of the socialist leadership specify, have obtained 70. “A global agreement is on the right track”, even if “the basic negotiations must continue” this morning, at the headquarters of France Insoumise, add the sources.
