Russian state media have been banned from publishing statements by the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, without the consent of the leadership. In particular, one cannot quote statements about the course of the war in Ukraine.

Radio Liberty writes about this, citing sources from the Russian edition of Proekt.

Such a ban came after Kadyrov’s conflicts with the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov and the head of the Russian delegation at the talks with Ukraine Vladimir Medinsky.

State media were instructed to quote statements by the head of Chechnya “only after the sanction of the leadership.”

The TASS official said that the Russian news agency, for example, did not publish Kadyrov’s report about the 260 surrendered Ukrainian marines. Another TASS correspondent also heard that news from the head of Chechnya should be shown to Deputy Editor-in-Chief Mikhail Shcherbakov.

Banned not only Kadyrov

This rule applies not only to Kadyrov. Due to contradictions in the words of various officials, the state media began to publish statements by politicians with a long delay and only after coordination with the leadership.

Besides, economic news about Russia’s difficulties due to the war and sanctions can be coordinated for several hoursand eventually not released at all.

Also in Russia they are looking for a replacement for the term “denazification” after the survey revealed that the Russians do not understand the meaning of this word.
