The Pentagon believes that the main forces of the Russian troops deployed on Mariupol assigned to the north of the city. Now they continue to deliver air and artillery strikes there. In the most captured Mariupol, a small number of Russian soldiers are concentrated.

This was announced by Pentagon Speaker John Kirby during a briefing.

“In general, according to our estimates, most of the Russian troops – ground forces sent to Mariupol, withdrew and moved north,” he said.

According to Kirby, there are now a small number of Russian troops in and around Mariupol, roughly equal to “a couple of battalion tactical groups.”

Kirby added that the Russian invaders are attacking Mariupol, inflicting air and artillery strikes on it and the Azovstal plant.

Russia has not achieved the progress it expected in Donbas – Pentagon

The Russian occupiers have made “insignificant progress” in the Ukrainian Donbas. However, this progress is not at all what Moscow expected to receive at the moment. This statement was made by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby during a briefing.

According to him, Russian forces have made “little progress, especially in the northern part of Donbass,”

Kirby added that this little progress is not the kind of progress that the US believes Russian forces “expected to make at the moment” in the region.

“In Donbas, we still assess that the Ukrainians are putting up a very tough resistance. And that the Russians have not made the progress that we believe they expected. This does not mean that they have not made any progress,” he said.
