Thanks to Western arms supplies, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were able to conduct symmetrical combat operations and achieve success. This was stated by the representative of the US Department of Defense John Kirby, the press service of the department reports.

“As for the air pattern, it changes every day. And in terms of how many sorties the Russians make, we see that the Ukrainians are very effective in their air defenses, very dexterous in this regard, but nevertheless the Russians also have significant air defense coverage over Ukraine, and they continue to carry out both missile strikes and fixed manned airstrikes against Ukraine,” the official said.

According to him, basically, the airstrikes that are observed, whether they are missile strikes or dropped from an aircraft, take place in the Donbass region and in Mariupol.

“Russian pilots know that the Ukrainians have effective air defenses and therefore you won’t see them fly very long or very often in Ukrainian airspace. They launch their missions … end their missions mostly – usually in Russian air space, but this is very debatable. And again, this is a real merit of how smart and effective the Ukrainians are with regard to their air defense,” he said.

What weapons will be given to Ukraine

At a summit at the Ramstein air base in Germany, which was attended by more than 40 defense ministers, it was decided to provide additional weapons to Ukraine.

Germany agreed to transfer Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine (however, how many are still kept secret), France will provide Kyiv with CAESAR self-propelled artillery guns (according to media reports, Ukraine will receive 12 howitzers), and the UK will send man-portable anti-aircraft guns to our country. Starstreak missile systems.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov notes that the weapons that the West will transfer to Ukraine are significantly superior in their characteristics to the analogues that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have today.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov noted that a strategic decision was made at the summit in Germany to switch the Ukrainian army to Western calibers and equipment according to NATO standards.

The US Congress passed the Lend-Lease Act for the first time since 1941. This military law should help Ukraine in repelling the Russian invasion.
