(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 11 – Russia has blocked about 300 merchant ships in the Black Sea which cannot therefore export grain and other food products from Ukraine. The US State Department announced this today on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.
“Ukraine exported up to 5 million tons of wheat per month” now “shipments have almost stopped due to the Kremlin’s blockade of Ukrainian ports and nearly 300 merchant ships in the Black Sea,” the note read. .
The US State Department stressed that these actions “threaten to put millions of people at risk of famine and malnutrition”. (HANDLE).
